Teacher's Method in Modifying Children's Behavior to Shape Positive Character

This study aims to determine the methods used by teachers in shaping positive character in children. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. Then the technique used in collecting data is using observation and interview techniques. The methods used by teachers in shaping positive character are rewards, time out, and punishment. The reward method proved to be the most effective method in motivating children to show positive behavior. Then the time out method is used as a strategy to control children's emotions when children show negative behavior. And finally, the punishment method is given as a consequence of violating the rules that have been mutually agreed upon between teachers and children at the beginning of the school year. In shaping positive character in children, teachers play an important role in providing motivation, then teachers as observers and evaluators and collaborate with children's parents so that children's character building is more effective. From these findings, the method is effective for shaping children's positive character.
